FAQ

What’s a good weight for a coxswain/Is [number] a good weight for a coxswain?

Weight is not as big a factor as other things (such as your ability to steer/memorize race plans/motivate your rowers). If you’re that worried, ask your coach.

What should I eat/do before a 2k test?

It’s a personal preference, but you should eat a good dinner (pasta is good) and get a lot of sleep the night before. Note that as it’s just a 2k, and you’re probably doing it nearly 24 hours after you have dinner, what you eat doesn’t really matter. Regattas are a completely different matter. Definitely stretch beforehand. Hydrate, but don’t eat or drink too soon before you start the test because it’ll upset your stomach.
